Join us for a PRO Educational Webinar exploring the Rise and Complexity of Check Fraud with Tips on Protecting Your Business. In the ever-evolving landscape of financial transactions, check fraud looms large, presenting a challenge for businesses and financial institutions alike.
Facilitator Justin Lopus of Reliable Payments will facilitate a conversation about this important topic with Suzy O’Connor and Chris Fuller of M&T Bank, Brian Downs of HRI/Downs & Associates Insurance and Lauren Fox of GHT Insurance.
2024 AFP (Association of Finance Professionals) "Payments Fraud and Control Survey Report” showed the number rose to 80% of companies experiencing finance fraud in 2023, up from 65% in 2022. Checks continued to be the most problematic payment method, with 65% of organizations reporting check fraud activity. The report was based on data from 500 treasury managers.
Despite the decline in check usage, the irony is that check fraud has been on a meteoric rise and poses a sophisticated and multifaceted threat to financial security. Technological advancements have made it easier for fraudsters to replicate and manipulate checks with alarming precision. 'Check kiting' and 'check washing' with new technology offer criminals more opportunities to exploit transactions than ever before.
